“I like to see that my patients are working to better themselves. I love seeing them smile when they notice the changes in both aesthetics and the confidence boost they get as they go through their orthodontic treatment. I feel lucky to be in such a unique profession, and to be able to work with so many people through this very important life journey.”

My husband, Michael Pietsch, is Chief Operating Officer at Title Guaranty Hawaii. He is also a passionate big-wave surfer and fisherman. We have two wonderful sons, Aka and Nalu. We also have a pair of rescue dogs, lots of fish, and a tortoise to keep us busy.

I was on the U.S. National Team for flat water kayaking, and was the Junior National Champion 3 times. I continue to paddle in outrigger canoes, one-man canoes and my surfski. I’ve done over 20 Molokai to Oahu competitive crossings. I am also an avid scuba diver, surfer, and enjoy playing beach volleyball.

I am past-presidents of the Duke Kahanamoku Foundation, Honolulu County Dental Society, Hawaii Society of Orthodontists, and various dental study-clubs. I also participate in beach cleanups for various organizations.

“I make sure to go way above and beyond my requirements for continuing education every year. I like to keep abreast of new technology and stay informed for the good of my patients.”

Ryan, Patient Advocate

Ryan has been with us since early 2014. He says, “helping people is what matters.” He especially enjoys how our team works well with each other, and how we treat our patients like they are ohana. He also really likes seeing how each patient grows with time. After hours, Ryan has fun with swimming, snorkeling, trying new foods, music, and hanging out with friends.

Leigh, Lead Orthodontic Assistant

Leigh joined the HiSmile team in 2014, and brings 28 years of orthodontic experience. She says, “the best thing about orthodontics at HiSmile is inviting new patients into our ohana, making lots of new memories, and inspiring everyone to enjoy their wonderful new smile.” In her private life Leigh enjoys jogging, and spending lots of time with her daughter laughing and playing around.

Heather, Orthodontic Assistant, Treatment Coordinator

Heather moved to Oahu in 2008 from Arizona, and has been in the dental field for 21 years. Her favorite part about working at Hi Smile Orthodontics is building new relationships and watching our patients’ new found confidence after their treatment is complete. During her free time Heather enjoys spending time with her husband and 10 year old son, and keeps active by going on hikes and enjoying the ocean.

Jeanie, Orthodontic Assistant, Marketing Manager

Formerly a Michigander, Jeanie came to Hawaii in 2008. Since then, she obtained an associate’s degree in dental assisting and brings an additional 2 years of experience when she came on board with HiSmile in 2014. Her favorite facet of orthodontics is commiserating with patients, since she is currently undergoing Invisalign treatment herself and feels like she has a special camaraderie with them. Outside of work, she can be found trying new restaurants with her husband, reading, and spending way too much time on Netflix.

Lisa Strand-Ma’a, Registered Dental Hygienist

She has been practicing Dental Hygiene for more than 3 decades, and loves her profession. Lisa feels strongly that oral health is the key to overall good health. On a personal level, Lisa has four children–Misty, Micah, Mehana, and Maluhia. In her free time she enjoys anything outside–hiking, biking, playing beach volleyball, cooking, reading, sewing, and spending time with loved ones.
